There is one very short steep climb and another fairly steep descent, but overall the hike is not particularly demanding.

Lake View Loop - Peters Canyon Regional Park

Turn by Turn:

-- Find the trailhead at the west side of the parking lot and head out as the path zigzags at first, then settles on following the lakeside.

-- Ignore side trail like Skylark as you work your way around the southwest side of the reservoir. Then, as you're heading southeast along a fence line keep and eye out for Cactus Point rail leading off to the northeast. Take Cactus Point trail and follow it as it climbs, then work back toward Lake View trail. Turn left (southeast) on Lake View trail.

-- Soon the path descends sharply for a few yards before crossing at the base of the dam. The path then meets Peters Canyon trail. Turn left onto Peters Canyon trail to continue the circumnavigation of the lake.

-- Follow Peters Canyon as it eventually becomes Lake View trail once again and turns left at the intersection of the roads. Continue on Lake View trail back to the parking lot.
