Synopsis: Okay, it's kind of stretching things even to call this a Point Of Interest. I'm guessing they put the trail and railing in over worries about someone getting hurt. All the same, it's so short you can almost see the destination of this walk from the trailhead. And the narrow, nearly enclosed canyon is interesting enough for the effort required. Might as well take this little side trip before heading out on the Rings Loop trail.

Overlook - Mojave National Preserve

Turn by Turn:

-- From the trailhead look to the south. You'll likely spy some blue railing at the end of a short scramble over some rocks. Follow the trail up to the rocks and climb up.

-- There is very little beyond that which you see from the trailhead. You reach a ledge that is protected by the railing. Here you look out over a small, almost completely enclosed canyon. The outlet down below and to the right can be seen on the other side from the Rings Loop trail.

-- Retrace your steps to the trailhead.
