Trip Date: 10/19/2014

Location: San Bernardino National Forest - (San Jacinto Wilderness)

Permit/Pass: None required

Trails: NA

Directions: From Interstate 10 in Banning take the Hargrave St. exit and head south. Turn right on Lincoln St., then left on S. San Gorgonio Ave. and continue south, veering onto CA. Hwy 243 (Banning-Idyllwild Panoramic Hw.). Follow this road 14.3 miles to a right turn into the parking lot for the Lake Fulmor recreation area. After parking, cross the road to the driveway on the west side of the lake. Pick up the trail here.

Synopsis: A nice little walk around a pretty mountain lake. There are plenty of places to take a break and eat some lunch, or just watch the wind on the water. According to some signs the water quality is questionable, but this doesn't seem to deter the fishermen.

Trail sequence: Lake perimeter trail

Type: Loop

Distance: 0.5 miles

Rating: Easy (factors: altitude)

Trail notes: Mostly paved. Be careful crossing the highway.

Lake Fulmor - San Bernardino NF

Turn by Turn:

-- Follow the perimeter walkway encircling the lake. As you near the northeastern end of the lake the trail splits. Follow the narrower, unpaved path to the right as it takes you to a bridge crossing Indian Creek.

-- As the path circles back along the southwest side of the lake, it eventually passes a restroom building, after which there will be another split in the trail. The wider left option leaves the lakeside. Follow the right path to continue your walk around the lake.

-- After you reach the road, turn right and follow the walkway back to your starting point.

-- Cross Hwy. 243 to return to your car.
