Location: Yosemite National Park - Yosemite Valley

Permit/Pass: By private car, van, pickup truck, or RV - $20 per car. Valid for unlimited entries to Yosemite for seven days.

Directions: (See here for directions to the park.) After passing Tunnel View on Hwy. 41 on the way into the valley, drive down the hill a little over a mile to the signed entrance to the Bridalveil Falls parking area on the right. The trailhead is at the east end of the lot.

Synopsis: Bridalveil Falls is a spectacular example of a hanging valley waterfall. The walk to the base is easy and worthwhile.

Trail sequence: Valley Loop trail / Bridalveil Falls trail / Valley Loop trail

Type: Out and back

Distance: 0.4 miles 

Rating: Easy (factors: crowds in high season)

Trail Notes: The consequences of visiting this waterfall may be life-changing. Legend is that couples who are touched by the mist will end up marrying.

Turn by Turn:

  -- Take the trail at the east end of the parking lot just a few yards before turning right (south) on Bridalveil Falls spur. At the base of the falls be careful not to slip on the wet surfaces.

  -- When done, retrace your steps to the parking lot.
