Jackson Flats - Angeles NF

Turn by turn:

-- If you can resist the urge to take one of the many other trails leaving from this area (or if the other trails are snowed over, as they were for us) walk across the road after parking and follow the signs to Jackson Flats campground.

-- The hike heads north (and a little west) for about a mile before turning back to the southeast and meeting the Pinyon Ridge Truck Trail.

-- Stay right (east) to continue on to the campground.

-- After a little over 1.5 miles reach a junction with the campground entrance.

-- Following the walk up the road toward the facilities a quick turn to the northwest leads to a ridge with excellent views north and west. Continuing on through the campground to the northeast leads to an observation tower (closed in winter) and a ridge with more views to the east and south.
